If you enjoyed playing Time Crisis in the arcade back when you were younger, it appears that Namco, the company behind the game, has put out a free app for iPhones called the iGunCon which basically mimics the same light guns that Namco used back then. Essentially the app will turn your iPhone into a virtual gun that can be used with Namco's games.
For those who weren't aware, Namco has released the Time Crisis series on both the iPad 2 and Mac computers, with the iPad 2 version called TIME CRISIS 2ND STRIKE HD and the Mac version, which is available from the Mac App Store, being called TIME CRISIS 2ND STRIKE. Downloading either game to your iPad 2 or Mac computer will allow you to pair your iPhone with either device and use it as a gun controller.
The app even comes with a variety of shooting sounds that you can choose from, such as the handgun, machine gun, shotgun and grenade launcher. I'm guessing that the only downside to a virtual gun controller is that you will not be able to enjoy the satisfaction of physically spamming the trigger anymore.

Epic Games: people want to spend $6 on iPhone games
Sunday, July 17, 2011
How many of you spend money on games for your mobile devices? If you have, how many of you have spent over $5 on a single game before? If you answered yes to both questions and you think you're in the minority: there's more people like you than you think. According to Epic Games, the company behind the hot selling game, Infinity Blade; people are willing to spend money on a game - as long as it's worth it. The over $11 million of revenue they've made from the game alone (and that is after subtracting Apple's cut) proves it.
“Experience tells us that if you create content with high production values the audience will buy it. You're customers, what would you prefer to do: Buy a game like Infinity Blade for $6 with plenty of gameplay, good production values that offers a visceral experience; or pay 99c for something you play once and never ever go back to?” says Epic Games' senior manager, Mika Gamble.
Well, it looks like developers who are thinking of pricing their games at $0.99 might want to think twice after seeing how successful games can be at premium prices. Of course, the quality of the game will have to match its price tag.

King of Fighters-i for the iPhone
Friday, July 8, 2011
I don't know about you, but somehow, Mia from the King of Fighters series seem to hypnotize me each time I see her, what with her sweeping moves of deftly employing seemingly harmless fans in her hands. Well, good news for iOS device owners – the hugely popular fighting franchise is now available on the iOS platform, aptly known as the King of Fighters-i.
In order to remain as faithful as possible to the original, the game will sport ”gorgeous graphics” which the latest Apple hardware is able to support without breaking into a sweat (kudos to the A5 processor, we presume). Not only that, if you grew up on the use of joysticks, you will find the learning curve not steep at all since the title relies on the Virtual Pad/Joystick that will recreate KOF's controls to perfection.
There are four game modes to choose from – the classic “Team Battle” for some 3-on-3 action, “Single Battle” for 1-on-1 fights, “Endless” mode for an endurance challenge with but a solitary life, and “Training” mode for you to hone your skills and get used to the Virtual Pad-based controls while figuring out lethal combos of your own.
With 14 characters to choose from, the $7.99 asking price is a bargain to serious gamers and fans of the franchise, where the purchase will be sweetened with free additional content that will arrive in October this year, bumping up the character list to 20. Just make sure you have at least an iPhone 3GS or 3rd generation iPod touch in possession, running on iOS4.1 and later.

iPhone “Personal impact simulator” Stair Dismount now on Android
Sunday, June 12, 2011
The very successful iPhone game Stair Dismount is now available on the Android Market, with independent publisher Secret Exit bringing the joys of inflicting massive physical damage on a crash dummy to all of us lot.
Stair Dismount is a free game, requiring users to have an Android 2.2 device or higher. You might also need something quite modern to do the physics justice, too. This is what it looks like:
They even put the Android mascot in to keep us happy. A quick look at the Android Market compatibility check shows that you do indeed need something with a decent processor – the game won't run on the Vodafone SMART, Galaxy Ace, or Wildfire S for a start.

iPhone game Burn the Rope now on Android – exclusively via GetJar
Thursday, June 2, 2011
Another game publisher has oddly decided to go down the GetJar distribution exclusive path, with Big Blue Bubble's Burn the Rope now available on Android through GetJar's download service.
It's not a disaster for potential fans of the casual title, though – GetJar only has a one week exclusivity window on the game before it'll arrive on the Android Market for everyone to install in a familiar method.
And that's what it looks like. We get an error message stating that the game won't work on our HTC Desire when trying to download via GetJar. Which would appear to be a bit of a problem.

If someone asks on the best gaming platform for a smartphone that one of the answers would be the Windows 7-based Unity 3D interactive gaming table.
The table allows the owner of an Android-running smartphone to play against the owner of an iPhone.
The unity 3D gaming table makes it possible for you to use your handset as a gamepad to compete against your iOS or Android operating opponent. It is worth reminding that the table itself is running Windows 7.
To see the gaming table in action check out the video below in which the user of an Anroid-powered HTC Evo 4G attempts to square-off an iPhone 4 user in a wave race.

Quattro robot plays games on the iPhone
Tuesday, May 24, 2011
Ever wondered about whether there is someone out there who is able to beat you at your favorite game on the iPhone? Well, if the humans can't do it, how about calling in something heavier in the form of a robot – the Quattro robot, to be more specific. Created by Adept Technologies, this robot is touted to perform pretty well when it comes to playing iPhone games, and its “show off” game would be 1to50, a simple title which requires you to tap the numbers “1″ to “50″ on a screen of jumbled numbers in the shortest time possible.
