In order to remain as faithful as possible to the original, the game will sport ”gorgeous graphics” which the latest Apple hardware is able to support without breaking into a sweat (kudos to the A5 processor, we presume). Not only that, if you grew up on the use of joysticks, you will find the learning curve not steep at all since the title relies on the Virtual Pad/Joystick that will recreate KOF's controls to perfection.
There are four game modes to choose from – the classic “Team Battle” for some 3-on-3 action, “Single Battle” for 1-on-1 fights, “Endless” mode for an endurance challenge with but a solitary life, and “Training” mode for you to hone your skills and get used to the Virtual Pad-based controls while figuring out lethal combos of your own.
With 14 characters to choose from, the $7.99 asking price is a bargain to serious gamers and fans of the franchise, where the purchase will be sweetened with free additional content that will arrive in October this year, bumping up the character list to 20. Just make sure you have at least an iPhone 3GS or 3rd generation iPod touch in possession, running on iOS4.1 and later.
